Last night I decided to do something a little different, and spend an evening on San Nicola.

Although I did not attend the procession on Ferragosto, I enjoyed watching it take off and return, and I took a few photos.

Italian summers are a long build-up to the 15th August, or ferragosto as we call it here. It’s a religious bank holiday, celebrating the Assumption of Mary. Everyone’s holidays tend to be centred around ferragosto, and it’s definitely the busiest time on Tremiti.
OK, so I’m known for being the one who goes around feeding all living things I see. I mean I could spend hours on Youtube just watching videos of porcupines being fed, pigs chomping on bananas, hamsters enjoying slices of carrots, birds pecking oat from someone’s hand.
OK, you’re going to have to trust me on this one, but what you can see here in this photo is…a beautiful little glow worm!
