Meet…Samantha
Q: Samantha, what is it you do here on Tremiti?
A: I work on-board the boat BluAlba, and I deal with everything regarding promotion. Tourists can contact me directly and I manage the weekly planning of their holiday, from accommodation to diving trips.
Q: What are the services you offer on the boat BluAlba?
A: We focus particularly on snorkelling trips, baptisms of the sea, and mini-cruises, but also provide diving excursions – you don’t have to have a diving license to enjoy a day trip with us! All our staff and instructors are fully trained and specialised, so we are able to guarantee our tourists’ safety as well as illustrate the amazing marine biodiversity of the islands.
We offer full-day services, with excursions starting at 9.30am and ending at 5pm. We set off as soon as all our guests are on-board, and we make our way to the best spots of the Marine Reserve of the archipelago. Here we have our first snorkelling/diving/bathing activities, with descriptions of what we are about to see. Guests can bring their own equipment or rent it from us.
Mid-morning we offer a snack of bruschetta; after that we move to another location for our second excursion. We then serve a **fish lunch***, freshly cooked on-board by my partner Michele, before we move to another spot around the archipelago, so every time our guests have the chance to visit several bays and different islands.
We also rent out the whole boat for events, from wedding dos to birthdays and parties of any kind. It’s a really exclusive experience!
*if you have any dietary requirements please notify Samantha in advance - I for instance am always treated with the best vegan feasts!
Q: Are you operative all year round?
A: We are open from April to November.
Q: How long have you been working on the BluAlba?
A: Since 2000 – only one year after I’d visited the Tremiti islands for the first time and fell in love with them!
Q: What made you choose Tremiti?
A: Oh, the sea and its underwater landscapes: I was already a professional trained diving instructor when I first arrived, and the minute I put my head under the water I knew this was my place. I had been offered to go and work in the Red Sea, but I said “No thank you: if this means my summers cannot be on Tremiti, then I’ll decline”. Because…I was just so struck by the morphology of the seabed, the rocks, the underwater seascape, the endless possibilities offered by the diving spots. No tropical sea compares.
Q: How can tourists contact you?
A: Directly via e-mail on info@blutremiti.it and by phone on +39 3460961324 or on +39 3343646979.
Q: Tell me about your typical working day.
A: Firstly, I meet and greet tourists at the port of San Domino: we meet at 9.30 by the boat BluAlba. The day starts with a briefing of the boat, security measures and so forth; then we embark on the day trip. This means we will move from the port to some of the best places of Tremiti’s Marine Reserve – where we go depends largely on the wind, and therefore the sea. From there our guests will enjoy either snorkelling activities, or diving, or just relax on a mini-cruise. Throughout the day, between activities, we offer bruschetta and wine, and a fish lunch; we make our way back to the port around 5pm. After that, you will find me from 6 to 8pm at our Information Point in Via Aldo Moro, near the main square. I am available to answer any queries and tell tourists all about our services, including our organised bay down at Cala Tamariello which I also manage. Round that off with having a family with two small children, and it turns into a very full day!
